SurgiFrost Console & Probes
CryoTherapy provides an alternative to conventional, heat-based ablation systems for the treatment of arrhythmias during cardiac surgery. Surgical CryoAblation can be used in a broad range of approaches, including minimally invasive, full sternotomy, endocardial and epicardial ablations, and Cryo-Maze procedures.
A number of key features are associated with the use of CryoTherapy for ablating tissue responsible for arrhythmias, including:
- uniquely stable handling (due to CryoAdhesion).
- site testing by creating a reversible thermal effect.
- preservation of tissue integrity.
- reduced risk of thrombosis and stenosis.
SurgiFrost® 10 Stop Arrhythmias Cold
SurgiFrost® 10 is a malleable, single-use cryosurgical probe developed to treat cardiac arrhythmias during heart surgery. The probe will ablate cardiac tissue while a patient is undergoing a primary cardiac surgical procedure, such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or mitral valve (MV) replacement and/or repair and as part of the Maze procedure.
Accurate lesion placement and tissue preservation
Freezing preserves tissue integrity. SurgiFrost® 10 features a malleable probe shaft and flexible tip with adjustable insulation sleeve that allows an ablation zone between 25 and 100 mm. The cryoprobe's flexibility and adjustability make for accurate lesion placement, minimizing inadvertent tissue damage. This cold-energy system - which reaches temperatures as low as -160ºC - also minimizes the risk of endocardial thrombus associated with heat-based energy sources. The tip adheres to the target site when freezing begins for precise lesion positioning on a beating heart. The SurgiFrost® 10 system combines the traditional safety of cryoenergy with the speed and flexibility required by today's cardiothoracic surgeons.
A versatile choice
The SurgiFrost® 10 CryoSurgical Ablation System is quick and easy to set up and the probe is flexible and easy to manoeuvre. Its 100-mm segment can be configured to desired lengths and shapes to produce ideal ablation lines. SurgiFrost® 10 can be used with all incision types and in conjunction with any cardiac surgical procedure. Incisions include: full median sternotomy, small sternal incisions and thoracotomy. It can be used in a beating or arrested heart to perform all generally accepted lesion sets, including completing all Maze lesion lines efficiently.
Frostbyte®
Frostbyte® is the first two-in-one convertible device that incorporates a clamp and a surgical probe (Surgifrost 7) indicated for the treatment of atrial fibrillation as an adjunct to other minimally invasive cardiac surgery procedures, including the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The clamp (incorporating the probe) is used to first transmurally ablate the pulmonary veins. The probe is then removed from the clamp to conduct the remaining lesions per the Cox maze and similar procedures.
